Underwater electrical prospection on the Juliana canal

In the frame of the enlarging of the Juliana canal, an underwater geophysical prospection was executed in cooperation with DEMCO nv (Belgium). A cable with electrodes was towed by a boot over the bottom of the canal, through which the electrical resistivity was measured of the shallow geological deposits under the canal bottom. The results of these resistivity measurements show a 3D volume of lithological variations. This information, interpreted with borehole logs and CPTs, is crucial to estimate the impact of the enlargement of the canal on the groundwater system.
